Philippe Bucher

Philippe Bucher
Managing Director, COO, CFO

Philippe Bucher is Adveq’s COO/CFO and a member of Adveq’s Management Committee. Since 2005, he leads Adveq’s global Operations team responsible for fund operations and services, legal and tax, group finance and information technology. Philippe serves on the Board and as Director of various group companies in the US, China, Curaçao, the Cayman Islands, Scotland and Europe including the German GmbHs.

Before joining Adveq, Philippe led a wide range of corporate finance mandates in the Valuation & Strategy practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2003 to 2005. Before 2003, he worked as an audit and business advisory manager at Arthur Andersen and as an analyst at UBS.

Philippe graduated from the University of Zurich with a Master’s degree in Economics. He has also earned the Swiss Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and completed an executive program at the Harvard Business School, US.

Tim Creed leads Adveq's European investment program and is a member of Adveq’s Management Committee. He is also on the advisory board of several leading European buyout and turnaround fund managers.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2004, Tim worked as a Project Manager at Aon in London, UK, having previously spent five years at Accenture in Strategy Consulting and Operations Consulting, where he worked mostly with financial services companies across Europe. Tim started his career as a Research Chemist at Astra Zeneca, also in the UK. From 2002 to 2007 Tim held a part time position as an Executive Public member of Network Rail in the UK.

Tim holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, where he graduated with first class honors and an MBA from Oxford University, UK where he was the Clifford H. Barclay Scholar.

Rainer Ender is Co-CIO (Co-Chief Investment Officer) of Adveq and co-leads Adveq's global Investment Management practice. Rainer is a member of Adveq's Management Committee and a member of the Investment Committee. He is active on the advisory boards of several fund managers.

Before joining Adveq in 2001, Rainer was an underwriter for alternative risk transfer at Zurich Reinsurance Company. From 1997 to 2000 he was a manager in the Financial Risk Management Practice at Arthur Andersen. In addition, Rainer served for several years on the Board of DTS, a regulated derivatives trader in Switzerland.

Rainer holds a Master's degree in Physics and a PhD in Natural Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He is also a CFA® charterholder.

Lee Gardella is the head of Adveq's US office and leads the Firm’s Risk Management efforts. He represents Risk Management in meetings of the Investment Committee.

Before joining Adveq in 2007, Lee was a Managing Director leading the Private Markets Group for CTC Consulting, the family office investment advisory subsidiary of US Trust Company in Stamford, Connecticut. From 1997 to 2005 he worked for the US Trust Company in the private equity and Alternative Investment Divisions making private equity direct and fund investments and leading the development of private equity, real estate and hedge fund investment products. Prior to that, Lee was an Associate at the Edison Venture Fund and Wilshire Associates and a Treasury Analyst at National Steel Corporation.

Lee holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Shippensburg University, Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, US. He is also a CFA® charterholder.

Sven Lidén is Adveq’s CEO and Head of Investor Relations and Marketing. He is responsible for the coordination of all investor related activities. He is also a member of Adveq's Management Committee.

Before joining Adveq in 2011, Sven worked for 10 years at Man Investments, most recently as the Head of Product Strategy and Business Development. Prior to that he was a member of the Executive Management Team at RMF which focuses on institutional fund of funds operations at Man Investments. At RMF he acted as the Head of Business Development and Client Services, the Head of Portfolio Management and the Head of Global Leveraged Finance. Before joining RMF in 2001, Sven was a Co-Head of Swiss Re’s Central and Eastern European activities and prior to that he built up Lidén & Denz, Russia’s leading language school.

Sven holds two Master’s degrees from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, one in Management and one in Political Science. He is also a Management Coach, certified by the Tavistock Institute in London, UK.

Nils Rode is Co-CIO (Co-Chief Investment Officer) of Adveq and co-leads Adveq's global Investment Management practice. Nils is a member of Adveq's Management Committee and a member of the Investment Committee. Additionally, he represents Adveq as a speaker at conferences and industry events.

Before joining Adveq in 2005, Nils was a Vice President with private equity backed SkyOnline, a US-based IT and telecommunications company, where he worked in the areas of finance and strategy from 2003 to 2005. From 1995 to 2002, Nils was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in Germany, where he was the lead manager for several strategic, organizational and operational improvement programs for private and publicly listed companies in the technology and financial services sector. Nils is also the author of a book on strategic management of knowledge based businesses.

Nils holds a Master's degree from ESCP Europe in Paris, Oxford and Berlin where he was a Siemens Scholar. He also holds a PhD in Economics from the Leuphana University of Lueneburg, Germany and a Specialization Certificate in Data Science from Johns Hopkins University and Coursera.

David Seex is Head of Asia Pacific at Adveq. In this role he is responsible for investor relations, marketing and business development in the region. He is a director and responsible officer of Adveq Management (Hong Kong) Limited and a member of Adveq’s Management Committee.

Before joining Adveq David was CEO of RAB Capital in Asia. Prior to that he was Head of Citigroup Alternative Investments Asia and was a member of the founding management team serving on both the division’s management and operating committees. His main responsibility was leading the build-up of the firm’s investor franchise in the region. Over 15 years with Citigroup, David also served as a transactor in leveraged finance in London and New York and as Head of Restructuring Advisory in Asia. David also spent three years with United Distillers PLC as Head of Corporate Finance and as Commercial Development Director in Asia. David started his career in advertising, working for Saatchi and Saatchi in London. David has lived in Hong Kong for over 20 years.

David has a Bachelor in Latin and Ancient History from the University of Exeter, UK and an MBA from the Columbia Business School in New York, US.

Before joining Adveq in 2008, Benjamin worked in the Investment Banking division of Sal. Oppenheim in Frankfurt and Cologne, Germany. During his studies in Germany he organized the well known Congress for Family Businesses at the University of Witten/Herdecke.

Benjamin holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Private University of Witten/Herdecke, Germany.

Richard Damming covers Adveq's investment activity for the European investment program.

Before joining Adveq in 2011, Richard worked at Capvent AG, a Zurich based private equity fund of funds firm. From 2006 to 2009, Richard was an Associate in the Corporate Finance team of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Zurich. Richard was also a controller and corporate M&A Analyst for ABB Ltd. from 2004 to 2005.

Richard holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Corporate Finance from Bocconi University Milan, Italy.

Viswanathan Parameswar (Param) is the Head of the Adveq Asia program and is responsible for all investment activities in the region including primary fund investments, secondaries and direct co-investments. Prior to this, Param was the Head of the Adveq Secondaries program, investing in secondary transactions globally. Param leverages his international experience having been actively involved in Adveq’s investment activities across the US, Europe and Asia, particularly in emerging markets.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2009, Param was part of the Financial Advisory Group at Deloitte where he focused on M&A and corporate finance. Param started his private equity career at Societe Generale Private Equity and then at Rothschild in France. Earlier on, he also worked with companies in the financial services and telecom sectors as a consultant for Wipro Technologies in US, UK and India.

Param holds an MBA from the HEC School of Management, Paris, France and has completed the Advanced Management and Leadership Program (AMLP) at Oxford University, UK.

Nico Taverna is the Head of the Adveq Secondaries program.

Before joining Adveq in 2012, Nico was a private equity secondary specialist with Partners Group and conducted his PhD studies at the University of St. Gallen and at INSEAD. During his studies, Nico worked in the Investment Banking Division with JPMorgan in London and with Credit Suisse in Beijing.

Nico holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance and a PhD from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Ethan is the head of the Adveq Opportunity program and leads Adveq's US buyout & turnaround investment activities across primary funds, secondaries, and co-investments.

Before joining Adveq in 2010, Ethan worked on the turnaround of Vertis Communications, a distressed private equity portfolio company of Avenue Capital. From 2008 to 2009, Ethan was an associate at Linley Capital, a New York-based private equity firm focused on middle market buyouts. Ethan was also a manager of finance at Viacom, Inc. from 2004 to 2006. He completed the investment banking analyst program at Bank of America Securities in New York from 2001 to 2003 where he provided financial and advisory services to companies and financial sponsors in the retail and consumer industries.

Ethan holds an MBA from Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Emory University, US.

Jun is Adveq’s Head of Investment Management China. He and his team of four Investment Professionals are responsible for all investments in the region.

Before joining Adveq in 2015, Jun was a Director at Capital Dynamics China in Shanghai, China. From 2010 to 2013 he was a Partner at Diligence Capital, a private equity fund of fund in Beijing, China. Prior to that, he worked as Project Manager in the Competence Centre Investor Support at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in Shanghai from 2007 to 2008. Before that, he worked in different positions for KPMG in Beijing and in Berlin/Frankfurt. Jun started his career as China Division Assistant Manager and Nylon Division Manager at UBE Industries, Shanghai.

Jun holds a Master of Economics & Management Science from the Humboldt-University in Berlin, Germany and a double Bachelor of Science & Technology Foreign Affairs and Environmental Engineering from the Shanghai University, China.

Steven Yang is the Head of the Adveq Technology program and in charge of Adveq’s investments in the US technology space from seed/early stage venture to buyout strategies. As part of Adveq’s global benchmarking practice he is also involved in Adveq’s Asian venture investments.

Before joining Adveq in 2007, Steven was as a portfolio manager at Beagle Limited, a New York based family office, where he managed a diversified portfolio of private equity partnerships, hedge funds, and direct investments in early stage technology companies. From 1997 to 2000 Steven worked for Welch Capital Partners as an analyst focusing on investments in enterprise hardware/software and telecom equipment/services.

Steven holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance and International Business from New York University, US.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2006, Erwin worked as a Consultant for Accenture in the firm’s life science strategy practice. He also spent five years doing research in the field of gene therapy working for start-ups and public organizations in France and in the UK.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2016, Jeremy spent 7 years as a Director in the investment arm of PartnerRe Ltd., where he was responsible for private equity investments in primary funds and co-investments. Prior to PartnerRe, Jeremy worked in the Investment Banking group of Fox-Pitt Kelton where he focused on transactions within the financial services industry.

David covers Adveq's investment activities in the agriculture, mining and power generation sectors globally. This includes conducting in-depth research, asset due-diligence and analyzing operating managers’ current and pipeline investments within the real assets sector. In addition, David assists with marketing and client relations support for the Adveq Real Assets funds.

Before joining Adveq in 2011, David worked as a Mining Research Analyst for Regal Resources Ltd., a mining exploration company based in Perth, Australia. In 2008, David worked as a Geology Field Assistant for Excalibur Ltd. in Tennant Creek, Australia. In 2007, he worked with North American Energy Ltd., a Texas based oil and gas exploration firm, which included project assessment duties and fieldwork.

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Banking and Finance from Curtin University, Australia.

Before joining Adveq in 2016, Brett worked in private funds placement and advisory at Asante Capital. He was involved in the origination and project management of client mandates and their distribution to private equity, venture capital and private debt investors globally. Prior to that, Brett worked at Sloane Robinson LLP, a European and Emerging markets focused hedge fund, across the Finance, Investor Relations and Operations functions. Brett started his career at KPMG in the Financial Services Group, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Brett holds an MBA from INSEAD and has a Bachelor of Business Science in Finance honors degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Ricardo Johnson covers investment activity in the buyout and turnaround segments of the US for the Adveq Opportunity program.

Before joining Adveq in 2015, Ricardo was a Senior Research Analyst at Colonial Consulting LLC where he was responsible for manager research and due diligence for the firm’s private equity strategies. Prior to that, Ricardo worked as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Global Corporate Banking group at J.P. Morgan Securities in New York, where he focused on providing capital market and risk mitigation solutions to large multi-national corporations. Ricardo also served as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Leveraged Finance group at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta, where he was responsible for the structuring and execution of middle-market financings for acquisitions, LBOs, and other leveraged capital solutions.

Ricardo holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Howard University, US where he graduated Cum Laude.

Before joining Adveq in 2016, Lance spent 9 years at Abbott Capital Management where he was a Senior Investment Analyst conducting due diligence on primary and secondary fund opportunities. Lance also worked in the fund administration team at Abbott Capital Management. Lance started his career as a Financial Analyst at Citigroup.

Lance holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Geneseo, USA and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst® (CAIA) designation.

Pascal Untersander is the Risk Manager in Adveq’s Risk Management Group. In this role, he is integral to Adveq’s enterprise and investment risk management efforts. Specifically, he is a key contributor to Risk Management to assess the risks in Adveq's investment decision making and the risks occurring from existing investments independently from Investment Management. This includes process controls as well as independent evaluation of developments of investments. As such, he is also responsible for the ISAE 3402 Type 2 audit process in Investment Management and the GIPS reporting.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2012, Pascal worked as a portfolio manager with Bank Vontobel for institutional fixed income mandates for 4 years. His introduction to the private equity industry materialized as a result of founding his own e-commerce business in 2008.

Pascal is a graduate of the University of Applied Sciences Zurich (HWZ) in Economics and Business Administration and holds a Master of Advanced Studies degree in Arts Management from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), Switzerland.

Anne-Juliane Knauer is Adveq's Chief Compliance Officer. As such, Anne-Juliane advises Adveq and its related companies with respect to compliance and regulatory matters and developments. Furthermore, she is responsible for the coordination of projects with the respective counsels and advisors in relevant jurisdictions.

Before joining Adveq in May 2012, Anne-Juliane worked as a legal counsel at Clariden Leu in Zurich from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that, she worked as a legal counsel for ESO Advisors AG and as a banking and finance lawyer at Simmons & Simmons in London and at Baker & McKenzie in Frankfurt am Main.

Anne-Juliane is qualified as a lawyer (Rechtsanwaeltin) in Germany and as a Solicitor in England and Wales.

Before joining Adveq David was CEO of RAB Capital in Asia. Prior to that he was Head of Citigroup Alternative Investments Asia and was a member of the founding management team serving on both the division’s management and operating committees. His main responsibility was leading the build-up of the firm’s investor franchise in the region. Over 15 years with Citigroup, David also served as a transactor in leveraged finance in London and New York and as Head of Restructuring Advisory in Asia. David also spent three years with United Distillers PLC as Head of Corporate Finance and as Commercial Development Director in Asia. David started his career in advertising, working for Saatchi and Saatchi in London. David has lived in Hong Kong for over 20 years.

David has a Bachelor in Latin and Ancient History from the University of Exeter, UK and an MBA from the Columbia Business School in New York, US.

Farah Buckley runs the UK Office and is responsible for the development of client relationships in the UK.

Before joining Adveq in 2012, Farah worked as a Director at MVision Private Equity Advisers in London where she led a number of fundraisings for General Partners based in Europe as well as maintaining and developing relationships with investors. Previously Farah worked at McQueen Limited, a corporate finance boutique specializing in consumer, leisure and retail M&A. She worked on numerous transactions for leading mid-market private equity firms in the UK. Farah also spent three years at Deloitte where she qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA).

Farah holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Oxford University, UK where she graduated with first class honors. Farah is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Before joining Adveq in 2010, Matt worked in the Principal investment division of Jiangxi Investment Group in China. Before that, Matt worked as an analyst for Jiangxi poyanghu private equity fund.

Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Simon Fraser University, Canada and a Master’s degree in Applied Finance from the Macquarie University, Australia.

Hagen Raab is responsible for Adveq's client relationships in Germany.

Before joining Adveq in 2009, Hagen was an equity financial analyst at Frankfurt-based BHF-BANK. Within BHF-BANK's Corporate & Financial Markets division, Hagen was responsible for business analysis and valuation of German small and mid cap companies. Previously, Hagen worked with Merrill Lynch, HypoVereinsbank and BMW Group as an associate intern in Australia, Germany, the UK, the US and South Africa.

Hagen holds an MBA (Dipl.oec.) from the University of Hohenheim, Germany and a Master's degree in International Business from Macquarie University Sydney, Australia. He has completed general management programs at the University of St. Gallen and IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland and at HBS in Boston, US.

Daniel Rhoads is responsible for Adveq’s client relationships in the US and Canada.

Before joining Adveq in 2011, Dan was Vice President at Oppenheimer Asset Management. Within Oppenheimer’s Private Equity Group, Dan held a dual role as Head of Business Development responsible for fundraising and institutional client service and as a senior member of Oppenheimer’s real asset investment team focused on sourcing and performing due diligence on global agriculture, farmland, timber and alternative energy opportunities.

Prior to Oppenheimer, Dan worked at Credit Suisse’s Customized Fund Investment Group, where he was focused on fund due diligence, investor relations and marketing for their private equity fund of funds platform. Previously, Dan was with Soros Fund Management, LLC, where his responsibilities included investor relations, reporting, and marketing of a number of their direct private equity products. Dan began his career in 1999 as an associate in the Investment Management Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers conducting audits and reviews on global alternative investments firms.

Dan holds a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Business Administration from the University of Richmond, US and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has completed his Series 7 and Series 63 certification.

Before joining Adveq in early 2012, Christoph worked as an advisor for Key Client Solutions and as a relationship manager at Clariden Leu. From 2007 to 2010, he was a relationship manager at LGT Bank, responsible mainly for Swiss private banking clients. Prior to that, Christoph worked in the Strategic Business Development department at SIX Swiss Exchange.

Christoph holds an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland. He also holds a CAIA® designation and is a Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM).

Jan Willem is responsible for maintaining and developing Adveq´s client relationships in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2012 Jan Willem worked at KAS BANK N.V., a custodian bank active in the Dutch, UK and German markets. During his time there he fulfilled several roles of increasing responsibility, in his last role he was relationship manager for a large group of Institutional Investors and also maintained the relationships with several consultants and asset managers. Previously Jan Willem worked for a public sector consultancy firm and in project management roles for one of the major integrated oil companies.

Jan Willem holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Management from The Hague University, Netherlands.

Before joining Adveq in 2012, David was a senior member of the Client Services department of Man Group plc, an alternative investment manager, initially based in Switzerland and later, the US. Prior to that, David worked with Credit Suisse in Zurich, as a member of the Portfolio Implementation and Management team in the fund of hedge funds department. Before joining Credit Suisse in 2005, David held positions with a number of leading international financial companies in Luxembourg and Dublin.

David has a degree in Business Studies with Economics (Hons) and holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst® designation.

Kathrin is responsible for Adveq’s client relationships in Germany, Austria and Nordics.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2012, Kathrin worked five years for Marcus Evans. During this time she fulfilled a number of roles in different geographies and of increasing responsibility. In her last position she was responsible for sponsor and delegate acquisitions for European and DACH investment summits focused on institutional- and family office investors, as well as structuring and organizing the events. Previously Kathrin worked in France at the Lycée Val de Seine, Grand Quevilly, as well as for IUFM - L'Institut Universitaire de Formation des Maîtres, Mont St. Aignan as a German language teacher.

Kathrin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogic Sciences from the University of Salzburg, Austria and is Certified Private Equity Analyst – CPEA of the Technical University Munich (TUM School of Management), Germany. Young-Ah is responsible for investor relations, marketing and business development in Korea.

Before joining Adveq in May 2013, Young-Ah worked at Squadron Capital for 3.5 years, where she was responsible for primary and secondary private equity and co-investments in the Asia Pacific region, as well as the development of client relationships in Korea. Prior to that, she worked at GE Capital for 7.5 years. During this time she participated in the due diligence of non-performing loan transactions throughout Asia before moving to Structured Finance Origination and Capital Markets, where she focused mainly on acquisition financing in Korea. Young-Ah began her career at Siemens Korea as a sales analyst.

Young-Ah holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics, with a Minor in Business Administration from Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea.

Prior to this, Silke was an Associate in the Mezzanine Funds Team at Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) covering investor reporting, fund performance, risk and operations. Before joining ICG, Silke spent 3 years at PwC, focusing on private equity clients.

Philippe serves on the Board and as Director of various group companies in the US, China, Curaçao, the Cayman Islands, Scotland and Europe including the German GmbHs.

Before joining Adveq, Philippe led a wide range of corporate finance mandates in the Valuation & Strategy practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2003 to 2005. Before 2003, he worked as an audit and business advisory manager at Arthur Andersen and as an analyst at UBS.

Philippe graduated from the University of Zurich with a Master’s degree in Economics. He has also earned the Swiss Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and completed an executive program at the Harvard Business School, US.

Stephanie Aldag is Adveq’s Senior Legal Counsel. As such, Stephanie advises Adveq and its functions with respect to legal and regulatory matters and developments and coordinates with the respective experts in the relevant jurisdictions.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2008, Stephanie worked as a senior legal counsel at UBS from 2002 to 2008. From 2000 to 2001, she worked as an in-house counsel for Société General private bank in Switzerland. Prior to that, she was a lawyer in a medium-sized law firm in Zurich, specializing in commercial law.

Stephanie holds a Bar Exam and a Licentiate in Law from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

John is Adveq’s General Counsel, Private Investment Structures. He advises Adveq with respect to the legal structuring, terms, formation and operation of its private investment funds and investments.

Before joining Adveq in April 2015, John was a Senior Associate in the private investment funds team at Proskauer Rose from 2012 to 2015. John started his career at SJ Berwin (now called King & Wood Mallesons), where he worked for five years, qualifying as a solicitor in the private investment funds team in 2008. During his time at Proskauer and SJ Berwin, John advised on the structuring and raising of international private investment funds, private investment fund transactions on both the buy and sell side, as well as co-investment schemes and carried interest arrangements. He also advised a number of investors into private investment funds.

John holds a Degree in Law (with honours) from the University of Bristol, England, and is qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales.

He started his professional career at Karl Steiner AG, a Swiss leading total services contractor.

Sven is a Swiss Certified Expert in Accounting and Controlling and he holds a Swiss Federal PET Diploma in Finance and Accounting.

Reto is responsible for the financial aspects of all Adveq Group companies. Furthermore, he is responsible for compiling Adveq’s consolidated financial statements according to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Prior to joining Adveq in 2007, Reto worked as a Group Controller for Trüb Switzerland, a manufacturer of national ID, bank and customer cards. Before that, Reto was the Head of Finance and Services of one of the main departments of the Paul Scherrer Institute (ETH). Before that, he was Chief Financial Officer in the digital printing industry with Sihl Group.

Reto holds a Diploma from the Munich Controller-Akademie and an SIB-Controller degree.

Patrick Küntscher leads Adveq’s global tax affairs. He is responsible for tax planning and tax structuring of all our product and group entities globally including tax compliance and tax reporting to investors. In addition, he is General Manager of German Investment Feeder Vehicles and German Client Vehicles and leads all related operations consisting of feeder administration, reporting, tax and compliance.

Before joining Adveq in 2004, Patrick Küntscher worked as an assistant tax consultant at Ernst & Young and previously at Arthur Andersen in Germany where he focused primarily on advising multinational groups in their inbound and outbound activities. Patrick started his professional career at Fahrzeug-Werke Lueg, a main representative of the former Mercedes Benz Group.

Patrick holds a “Diplom-Kaufmann” (diploma degree in business administration) from the University of Mannheim, Germany and is a German Statutory Tax Consultant.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2004, Tim worked as a Project Manager at Aon in London, UK, having previously spent five years at Accenture in Strategy Consulting and Operations Consulting, where he worked mostly with financial services companies across Europe. Tim started his career as a Research Chemist at Astra Zeneca, also in the UK. From 2002 to 2007 Tim held a part time position as an Executive Public member of Network Rail in the UK.

Before joining Adveq in 2001, Rainer was an underwriter for alternative risk transfer at Zurich Reinsurance Company. From 1997 to 2000 he was a manager in the Financial Risk Management Practice at Arthur Andersen. In addition, Rainer served for several years on the Board of DTS, a regulated derivatives trader in Switzerland.

Rainer holds a Master's degree in Physics and a PhD in Natural Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He is also a CFA® charterholder.

Lee Gardella is the head of Adveq's US office and leads the Firm’s Risk Management efforts. He represents Risk Management in meetings of the Investment Committee.

Before joining Adveq in 2007, Lee was a Managing Director leading the Private Markets Group for CTC Consulting, the family office investment advisory subsidiary of US Trust Company in Stamford, Connecticut. From 1997 to 2005 he worked for the US Trust Company in the private equity and Alternative Investment Divisions making private equity direct and fund investments and leading the development of private equity, real estate and hedge fund investment products. Prior to that, Lee was an Associate at the Edison Venture Fund and Wilshire Associates and a Treasury Analyst at National Steel Corporation.

Lee holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Shippensburg University, Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, US. He is also a CFA® charterholder.

Before joining Adveq in 2011, Sven worked for 10 years at Man Investments, most recently as the Head of Product Strategy and Business Development. Prior to that he was a member of the Executive Management Team at RMF which focuses on institutional fund of funds operations at Man Investments. At RMF he acted as the Head of Business Development and Client Services, the Head of Portfolio Management and the Head of Global Leveraged Finance. Before joining RMF in 2001, Sven was a Co-Head of Swiss Re’s Central and Eastern European activities and prior to that he built up Lidén & Denz, Russia’s leading language school.

Sven holds two Master’s degrees from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, one in Management and one in Political Science. He is also a Management Coach, certified by the Tavistock Institute in London, UK.

Before joining Adveq in 2005, Nils was a Vice President with private equity backed SkyOnline, a US-based IT and telecommunications company, where he worked in the areas of finance and strategy from 2003 to 2005. From 1995 to 2002, Nils was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in Germany, where he was the lead manager for several strategic, organizational and operational improvement programs for private and publicly listed companies in the technology and financial services sector. Nils is also the author of a book on strategic management of knowledge based businesses.

Nils holds a Master's degree from ESCP Europe in Paris, Oxford and Berlin where he was a Siemens Scholar. He also holds a PhD in Economics from the Leuphana University of Lueneburg, Germany and a Specialization Certificate in Data Science from Johns Hopkins University and Coursera.

Viswanathan Parameswar (Param) is the Head of the Adveq Asia program and is responsible for all investment activities in the region including primary fund investments, secondaries and direct co-investments. Prior to this, Param was the Head of the Adveq Secondaries program, investing in secondary transactions globally. Param leverages his international experience having been actively involved in Adveq’s investment activities across the US, Europe and Asia, particularly in emerging markets.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2009, Param was part of the Financial Advisory Group at Deloitte where he focused on M&A and corporate finance. Param started his private equity career at Societe Generale Private Equity and then at Rothschild in France. Before joining Adveq in 2012, Nico was a private equity secondary specialist with Partners Group and conducted his PhD studies at the University of St. Gallen and at INSEAD. During his studies, Nico worked in the Investment Banking Division with JPMorgan in London and with Credit Suisse in Beijing.

Nico holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance and a PhD from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Before joining Adveq in 2010, Ethan worked on the turnaround of Vertis Communications, a distressed private equity portfolio company of Avenue Capital. From 2008 to 2009, Ethan was an associate at Linley Capital, a New York-based private equity firm focused on middle market buyouts. Ethan was also a manager of finance at Viacom, Inc. from 2004 to 2006. He completed the investment banking analyst program at Bank of America Securities in New York from 2001 to 2003 where he provided financial and advisory services to companies and financial sponsors in the retail and consumer industries.

Ethan holds an MBA from Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Emory University, US.

Before joining Adveq in 2015, Jun was a Director at Capital Dynamics China in Shanghai, China. From 2010 to 2013 he was a Partner at Diligence Capital, a private equity fund of fund in Beijing, China. Prior to that, he worked as Project Manager in the Competence Centre Investor Support at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in Shanghai from 2007 to 2008. Before that, he worked in different positions for KPMG in Beijing and in Berlin/Frankfurt. Jun started his career as China Division Assistant Manager and Nylon Division Manager at UBE Industries, Shanghai.

Jun holds a Master of Economics & Management Science from the Humboldt-University in Berlin, Germany and a double Bachelor of Science & Technology Foreign Affairs and Environmental Engineering from the Shanghai University, China.

Steven Yang is the Head of the Adveq Technology program and in charge of Adveq’s investments in the US technology space from seed/early stage venture to buyout strategies. As part of Adveq’s global benchmarking practice he is also involved in Adveq’s Asian venture investments.

Before joining Adveq in 2007, Steven was as a portfolio manager at Beagle Limited, a New York based family office, where he managed a diversified portfolio of private equity partnerships, hedge funds, and direct investments in early stage technology companies. From 1997 to 2000 Steven worked for Welch Capital Partners as an analyst focusing on investments in enterprise hardware/software and telecom equipment/services.

Pascal Untersander is the Risk Manager in Adveq’s Risk Management Group. In this role, he is integral to Adveq’s enterprise and investment risk management efforts. Specifically, he is a key contributor to Risk Management to assess the risks in Adveq's investment decision making and the risks occurring from existing investments independently from Investment Management. This includes process controls as well as independent evaluation of developments of investments. As such, he is also responsible for the ISAE 3402 Type 2 audit process in Investment Management and the GIPS reporting.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2012, Pascal worked as a portfolio manager with Bank Vontobel for institutional fixed income mandates for 4 years. His introduction to the private equity industry materialized as a result of founding his own e-commerce business in 2008.

Pascal is a graduate of the University of Applied Sciences Zurich (HWZ) in Economics and Business Administration and holds a Master of Advanced Studies degree in Arts Management from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), Switzerland.

Prior to that, Ricardo worked as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Global Corporate Banking group at J.P. Morgan Securities in New York, where he focused on providing capital market and risk mitigation solutions to large multi-national corporations. Ricardo also served as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Leveraged Finance group at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta, where he was responsible for the structuring and execution of middle-market financings for acquisitions, LBOs, and other leveraged capital solutions.

Before joining Adveq in May 2012, Anne-Juliane worked as a legal counsel at Clariden Leu in Zurich from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that, she worked as a legal counsel for ESO Advisors AG and as a banking and finance lawyer at Simmons & Simmons in London and at Baker & McKenzie in Frankfurt am Main.

Anne-Juliane is qualified as a lawyer (Rechtsanwaeltin) in Germany and as a Solicitor in England and Wales.

Previously Farah worked at McQueen Limited, a corporate finance boutique specializing in consumer, leisure and retail M&A. She worked on numerous transactions for leading mid-market private equity firms in the UK. Farah also spent three years at Deloitte where she qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA).

Previously, Hagen worked with Merrill Lynch, HypoVereinsbank and BMW Group as an associate intern in Australia, Germany, the UK, the US and South Africa.

Hagen holds an MBA (Dipl.oec.) from the University of Hohenheim, Germany and a Master's degree in International Business from Macquarie University Sydney, Australia. Daniel Rhoads is responsible for Adveq’s client relationships in the US and Canada.

Before joining Adveq in 2011, Dan was Vice President at Oppenheimer Asset Management. Within Oppenheimer’s Private Equity Group, Dan held a dual role as Head of Business Development responsible for fundraising and institutional client service and as a senior member of Oppenheimer’s real asset investment team focused on sourcing and performing due diligence on global agriculture, farmland, timber and alternative energy opportunities.

Prior to Oppenheimer, Dan worked at Credit Suisse’s Customized Fund Investment Group, where he was focused on fund due diligence, investor relations and marketing for their private equity fund of funds platform. Previously, Dan was with Soros Fund Management, LLC, where his responsibilities included investor relations, reporting, and marketing of a number of their direct private equity products. Dan began his career in 1999 as an associate in the Investment Management Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers conducting audits and reviews on global alternative investments firms.

Dan holds a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Business Administration from the University of Richmond, US and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has completed his Series 7 and Series 63 certification.

Prior to that, Christoph worked in the Strategic Business Development department at SIX Swiss Exchange.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2012 Jan Willem worked at KAS BANK N.V., a custodian bank active in the Dutch, UK and German markets. During his time there he fulfilled several roles of increasing responsibility, in his last role he was relationship manager for a large group of Institutional Investors and also maintained the relationships with several consultants and asset managers. Previously Jan Willem worked for a public sector consultancy firm and in project management roles for one of the major integrated oil companies.

Before joining Adveq in 2012, David was a senior member of the Client Services department of Man Group plc, an alternative investment manager, initially based in Switzerland and later, the US. Prior to that, David worked with Credit Suisse in Zurich, as a member of the Portfolio Implementation and Management team in the fund of hedge funds department. Before joining Credit Suisse in 2005, David held positions with a number of leading international financial companies in Luxembourg and Dublin.

David has a degree in Business Studies with Economics (Hons) and holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst® designation.

Kathrin is responsible for Adveq’s client relationships in Germany, Austria and Nordics.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2012, Kathrin worked five years for Marcus Evans. During this time she fulfilled a number of roles in different geographies and of increasing responsibility. In her last position she was responsible for sponsor and delegate acquisitions for European and DACH investment summits focused on institutional- and family office investors, as well as structuring and organizing the events. Previously Kathrin worked in France at the Lycée Val de Seine, Grand Quevilly, as well as for IUFM - L'Institut Universitaire de Formation des Maîtres, Mont St. Aignan as a German language teacher.

Kathrin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogic Sciences from the University of Salzburg, Austria and is Certified Private Equity Analyst – CPEA of the Technical University Munich (TUM School of Management), Germany. Young-Ah is responsible for investor relations, marketing and business development in Korea.

Before joining Adveq in May 2013, Young-Ah worked at Squadron Capital for 3.5 years, where she was responsible for primary and secondary private equity and co-investments in the Asia Pacific region, as well as the development of client relationships in Korea. Prior to that, she worked at GE Capital for 7.5 years. During this time she participated in the due diligence of non-performing loan transactions throughout Asia before moving to Structured Finance Origination and Capital Markets, where she focused mainly on acquisition financing in Korea. Young-Ah began her career at Siemens Korea as a sales analyst.

Young-Ah holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics, with a Minor in Business Administration from Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea.

Prior to joining Adveq in 2008, Stephanie worked as a senior legal counsel at UBS from 2002 to 2008. From 2000 to 2001, she worked as an in-house counsel for Société General private bank in Switzerland. Prior to that, she was a lawyer in a medium-sized law firm in Zurich, specializing in commercial law.

Stephanie holds a Bar Exam and a Licentiate in Law from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

John is Adveq’s General Counsel, Private Investment Structures. He advises Adveq with respect to the legal structuring, terms, formation and operation of its private investment funds and investments.

Before joining Adveq in April 2015, John was a Senior Associate in the private investment funds team at Proskauer Rose from 2012 to 2015. John started his career at SJ Berwin (now called King & Wood Mallesons), where he worked for five years, qualifying as a solicitor in the private investment funds team in 2008. During his time at Proskauer and SJ Berwin, John advised on the structuring and raising of international private investment funds, private investment fund transactions on both the buy and sell side, as well as co-investment schemes and carried interest arrangements. He also advised a number of investors into private investment funds.

John holds a Degree in Law (with honours) from the University of Bristol, England, and is qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales.

He started his professional career at Karl Steiner AG, a Swiss leading total services contractor.

Sven is a Swiss Certified Expert in Accounting and Controlling and he holds a Swiss Federal PET Diploma in Finance and Accounting.

Reto is responsible for the financial aspects of all Adveq Group companies. Furthermore, he is responsible for compiling Adveq’s consolidated financial statements according to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Prior to joining Adveq in 2007, Reto worked as a Group Controller for Trüb Switzerland, a manufacturer of national ID, bank and customer cards. Before that, Reto was the Head of Finance and Services of one of the main departments of the Paul Scherrer Institute (ETH). Before that, he was Chief Financial Officer in the digital printing industry with Sihl Group.

Reto holds a Diploma from the Munich Controller-Akademie and an SIB-Controller degree.

Patrick Küntscher leads Adveq’s global tax affairs. He is responsible for tax planning and tax structuring of all our product and group entities globally including tax compliance and tax reporting to investors. In addition, he is General Manager of German Investment Feeder Vehicles and German Client Vehicles and leads all related operations consisting of feeder administration, reporting, tax and compliance.

Before joining Adveq in 2004, Patrick Küntscher worked as an assistant tax consultant at Ernst & Young and previously at Arthur Andersen in Germany where he focused primarily on advising multinational groups in their inbound and outbound activities. Patrick started his professional career at Fahrzeug-Werke Lueg, a main representative of the former Mercedes Benz Group.

Patrick holds a “Diplom-Kaufmann” (diploma degree in business administration) from the University of Mannheim, Germany and is a German Statutory Tax Consultant.

Prior to that, he worked as HR Business Partner at Man Investments Switzerland and as Recruiting Manager at Credit Suisse in Zurich, Switzerland.

Previously Christina worked as a Manager at Deloitte in the M&A team, working on a number of transactions for leading large and mid-market global private equity firms. Christina also spent three years at BDO where she qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA).

Christina holds a Master’s degree in Biology from Oxford University, UK. Christina is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Before joining Adveq in 2016, Peter was a Managing Director at GAM, where he was heading the IT team in Continental Europe. From 1996 to 2004, Peter was a consultant with Accenture in the financial industry practice.

Peter holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland.

Prior to this, Silke was an Associate in the Mezzanine Funds Team at Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) covering investor reporting, fund performance, risk and operations. Before joining ICG, Silke spent 3 years at PwC, focusing on private equity clients.

Silke holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacology from the University of Bristol, UK. Silke is a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
